About Us

Who We Are

Navachethana is more than a trust โ€” it is a home of hope, dignity, and endless possibilities. Founded in 2001, our journey began with just five children and a dream: to empower children with special needs to live with confidence, courage, and independence.

Every child who walks through our doors brings a unique story, and we are committed to helping them discover their strengths beyond their challenges. We welcome children from all backgrounds, including economically disadvantaged families, and support those with intellectual, physical, and multiple disabilities.

Today, what started as a small initiative has blossomed into a thriving family of 51 children, nurtured by a team of dedicated educators, therapists, and caregivers. Together, we create a safe and loving environment where every child is valued, encouraged, and given the opportunity to grow.

At Navachethana, we believe every child deserves not just education, but acceptance, respect, and the chance to shine. Our mission is to transform challenges into opportunities and inspire our children to face the world with confidence and hope.

"Every child can learn, every child can grow, and every child deserves to be celebrated." โค๏ธโœจ

Our Story

It started with 5 children
in a single room.

Mrs. Vijaya Nayak founded Navachethana Trust in 2001 after engaging in social work from the age of 19. The trust was initiated in a single room with 5 children and 3 staff members. Within the first year, the organisation expanded to a larger location in Bengaluru through rigorous door-to-door enrollment efforts in surrounding areas.

From five little dreams to a family of 51 shining stars, Navachethana continues to nurture hope, confidence, and a brighter tomorrow for every child. Today, the children are supported by 16 staff members โ€” including 6 professional teachers, 5 sub-staff, and 5 office personnel. The organisation has cumulatively served 675 children across 25 years.

We are open 365 days a year. No child is ever turned away due to the severity of their condition or their family's financial status.
